Hi, I’m Alex!
I’ve always loved learning and making. In my life, I have truly tried everything from embroidery to full home remodels. I learned by doing and failures meant new lessons.
Now as a parent of two, I see how integral those hobbies are. Not because I make pretty things - but because in order to build stronger communities, we need creative solutions - and the only way to do that is by first learning to be creative. Making is for everyone. Learning should be joyful and accessible. So I offer welcoming classes, private lessons paced to each learner, and whimsical, hands-on projects that build confidence over perfection.
At Wilder & Whimsy, I offer hands-on projects designed to build confidence over perfection that are perfect for a unique girls night, birthday parties or any other gathering that could use a little whimsy. I teach group and private classes in anything from general craft to specific hobbies like sewing. I can build custom aquariums for your classroom, library or office that combine ecology and art to make an accessible ever changing ecosystem.
I teach kids and adults to start, to mess up, and to start again and to find all of the joy in between. Give the world a little more whimsy and create with me!
When you contract with me - be it for private lessons, small kids crafts at a party, monthly girls nights with directed crafts or or whatever else you dream up, I want to be there for you.

Versatile
While we all love tiktok, the new hobby fads that pop up every six months has created a huge problem with waste. Whenever possible, I avoid purchasing new products and when I do, I use local stores and small businesses. Used materials are sourced from yard and estate sales and often old supplies is donated to me as well. Any materials donated that are not used in classes are available at booths at various markets on a pay-what-you-can basis.
Choices like this is what allows me to keep my classes accessible to anyone!
